GST – the potential effects on healthcare in Malaysia

GST

Dr Ng Swee Choon of the FPMPAM has written a nice article which sums it up:

[gview file=”http://www.fpmpam.org/files/GST_July2014.pdf”]

For doctors please read the bit about “Doctors who run facilities with annual turnover exceeding RM 500,000 must register. The penalty for not registering is severe. Other medical facilities whose annual turnover does not exceed RM 500,000 may register voluntarily. Once you are register, you are subjected to the terms and conditions of GST legislations. If you do not pay the GST in time to the Customs department, you will be penalized. ”

There is an on-going thread in Dobbs, the Malaysian doctors forum on GST : GST is coming. We have added this article to this thread. Please feel free to share your thoughts and concerns here. All Malaysian doctors are welcome and if you are not yet a member of Dobbs, registration is free.
