Background

NSCMH has a long history dating back from 1932 when it was first established as the NS Chinese Maternity Hospital. Its location then was at No. 6 Lemon Street, Seremban. With the support of public funds, under the management of a Colonial Government Officer and 5 Chinese representatives, it provided maternity services to the local community. Subsequently, this non-profit hospital was relocated to Jalan Templer, Seremban (now renamed Jalan Tun. Dr. Ismail) when it was awarded 5 acres of government land. Its official opening at the new site was on 19th August 1935.

Recognizing a need for recognization and to relook its role in society, the hospital management embarked on plans to transform the hospital into a Medical Centre, instead of limiting its services to maternity support. In 1980, NSCMH Medical Centre became a reality, with 50 beds, increasing to 75 beds within 6 years. Now NSCMH has 195 beds.
