Health info tip of the day: the nocebo effect

One of the things about the Internet is that it makes it easy for patients to look up medical information. Unfortunately one of the things they might experience is the Nocebo effect – a negative effect experienced by something which does not cause it. If someone manages to convince you something will cause some symptoms, you just might experience it.
This is a problem with medications as well. Some people are just convinced some “side effects” are due to a drug when it really isn’t.
