The Institut Jantung Negara, also known as the National Heart Institute, founded in 1992, is dedicated to serving the needs of heart patients by providing cardiology, paediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery services for both adult and paediatric cases. The institute has a highly competent team of cardiologists, paediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anaesthetists, support staff and the most up-to-date equipment to handle emergencies and even the most complicated cases.
The IJN is one of the largest heart centres in the region and has, since being founded, maintained an excellent standard of care.
IJN ’s state-of-the-art facilities include:
8 general wards including paediatric wards for cardiology and cardiothoracic cases
48 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for post surgical cases
36 bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
10 bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
24-hour Emergency Department with 6 observation beds
5 Operating Theatres
4 Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratories for interventional invasive cardiology procedures
11 bed Day Care Ward
